Play!

I love this photo of Violet. She's laughing. She's swinging. She's in focus...

Don't you just wanna jump into this photo and listen to her giggle? I wish I had recorded her voice.  She was just like a wind chime that day.

All the other kids are outside playing too. Go check them out at I Heart Faces.

Wardrobe Wednesday

Ah, the Heathen Family is still in pajamas today, so we turn to our newest furry addition for this week's Wardrobe Wednesday.

Now that we have two cats, I was forced to move the litterbox to the cellar.  The smell was too much for my delicate nose and even I was starting to get embarrassed when company came over.  Our cellar is a dank hole in the ground, suitable only for the water heater, furnace and now, the cat litter.  Mittens has been exploring the evils of our spider infested underworld.  I'm a little afraid she might start bringing us more than cobwebs soon.

*I kinda don't see the point of using Mister Linky anymore, since you can't see the names of participants here.  Also, I am lazy.  Let me know what you think.

Lying In Wait

I mentioned the other night that my cat declared war on our local praying mantis. Well, he has not taken this lightly and has been lying in wait on the roof of my front porch. Thankfully, the cat does not exit through the front door. I don't think my heart could take another surprise attack.

How to Get Your Heart Rate Up

This is the terrifying creature our feline mistress of evil (Fredericka von KittyKat) chased into the kitchen last night. Imagine standing in your dimly lit galley and opening the door for the cat, only to be greeted by a giant flying praying mantis in full defense mode. Fred was hot on it's tail and my first instinct was to yell, "GET IT!" and then I imagined the carnage and intervened. After all, the praying mantis is really a very peaceful critter. I would look like this too if a fat, angry, orange furball was trying to eat me. I frantically calmly grabbed my trusty Pyrex measuring cup and scooped up the frightened mantis. I think it was relieved, because it didn't try to escape as I tossed it back outside. Even in the light of day, I feel the heebie jeebies. "Is it on me? I feel like it's on me!"
*Now, obviously I did not snap this picture. Fear does not improve my skills as a photographer.
