Aaron’s Aunt Bobbie and Uncle David were generous enough to invite all of us down to her condo in Tennessee for the weekend. She rented an extra condo, which we stayed in with Grandma Pattie and Aunt Susan and Uncle Norm. The other ten people slept in Bobbie’s condo. Our trip was pretty easy, although the winding mountain roads caused Violet to revisit an oatmeal raisin cookie just before we finally arrived. We managed to not get lost until the very last and drove around the resort for twenty minutes making Violet good and queasy. We were all very tired from the drive and Violet threw a spectacular tantrum in our room and then promptly passed out on the floor (see above). Bringing a toddler comes with it’s rewards. We were granted the master suite in the condo (with private bath and whirlpool tub) for Violet’s sake. It was all very swanky. I could have sat on the balcony overlooking the lake the entire weekend, but a boat had been rented so we ventured out. Violet wanted desperately to be on the boat, but was not happy about the obligatory life preserver. It didn’t look the list bit comfortable, but she had it better than baby Kayla who wasn’t able to relieve the discomfort by standing up (or sitting up for that matter). Bobbie and David own a speed boat as well and those who were interested went tubing. Violet was too young, of course, and I wasn’t in the mood for wringing fishy water out of my hair. I had fun watching Pattie and her sister (Bobbie) fall into the water. Aaron also went tubing, but only after he and Kevin spent some time at the Sugar Hollow Dock drinking beer. Aaron made the mistake of trying to keep up with Kevin (twice his size) and walked a wavy line down our dock and back to the condo. Considering how much sleep he had gotten recently it was a miracle he could walk at all. Violet and I tagged along to return the pontoon boat on Saturday night and got some Dippin’ Dots at the dock, but they proved to be disastrous. I wore most of them. Toddler’s are not good at eating ice cream in the back of a speed boat. Anyway, it was a very relaxing trip (driving aside) and we hope to do it again.
