Several weeks ago Violet's Grandma went on a dress buying binge. Given my recent sewing obsession, Violet's closet is beginning to look ridiculous. Of course, that did not stop me from making a new outfit for Violet. I spent a week appliqueing t-shirts for the baby girl cousins (No I didn't take picture. Shut up.) and Violet made a few suggestions for her own shirt. Ok. Twist my arm little girl.
I managed to save this for Easter morning. The pleated skirt was actually super easy. The applique? Not so much. Don't let those other craft blogs tell you any different. Applique is HARD.
Alas, this labor of love was overlooked in favor of the purple dress Grandma bought.
I'm not bitter. She looked too cute for me to hold a grudge.

I am loving the shoes.
ReplyDeleteI really like the outfit you made for her. The skirt is adorable, so the fact that it was easy is just icing on the cake.
Wow. I'm impressed.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! My mom used to applique some stuff for me when I was a kid but it was never this cool. It was the 80s for crying out loud!
ReplyDeleteVi may have chosen Grandma's store bought dress for Easter, but she'll wear yours all summer. I can even see her wearing it into the winter paired with some cute tights. So practical yet very cute.
Seriously when are you going to start selling this stuff on etsy?
I may have to check out the pattern for the skirt. My sewing room is finally starting to warm up. It happens to be the one room in this old house that doesn't yet have heat.
I have found applique hard as well. I have also found that when I make something for Ada that she is likely to spurn it in favor of something (anything) else.
ReplyDeleteGrr.
I am seriously impressed with your sewing skills. You rock!
ReplyDeleteVERY cute!
ReplyDeleteBOth are cute but I love the uniqueness of yours. She'll wear it a lot.
ReplyDeleteI think Peanut had the same exact headband on for Easter! I got it from Dot's though so It was kinda big but it was only $1!
ReplyDeleteHave I told you before how much Violet and my Valerie are alike? Everyday with these damn dresses!
ReplyDeleteThe outfit you made is adorable! You are amazing!
