Since it's introduction in the Spring of 2007, this lavender dress has been a staple of Violet's wardrobe. My mother-in-law purchased it from the clearance rack at Baby Gap, on a whim.
Violet was about 20 months old when she started wearing it. The dress is a 2T and it was a little big for her then. Violet was smitten. It twirled. It had a ruffle and puffy sleeves.
Fast forward 2 years and she is still comfortably wearing the dress. It is scandalously short, but the bodice fits like a glove. When she plucks it out of the laundry basket, I only insist that she apply layers according to the weather. I don't want to think about the grief Violet will suffer when she finally outgrows this dress. I'm hoping it just disintegrates in her hands and falls in a lovely pile of purple dust at her feet. We'll spread the ashes over our favorite playground.
Very cute!
ReplyDeleteThat's the great thing about dresses, the length isn't too important. This is so much better than Wordless Wednesday!!!
Nora has a couple of dresses that she now has to wear with leggings or else I'd be arrested.
ReplyDeleteThe second picture looks like Violet's at a rave!
My daughter had two cardigans that she wore for 4 long years. They just sort of grew with her. It was weird. :)
ReplyDeleteHey, I finally added you to my Blogroll. Productive day for me today. ;)
Ahh... We've had a few well-loved dresses around here that have had to be retired... :( Keep that dress no matter what.
