In case you have ever wondered what joy looks like, this is it. Joy happens in a moment and it’s gone and you go looking for the next bit. Violet throw tantrums between blasts of joy. I see now that growing up is really the slow process of getting used to chasing the ever elusive joy. Violet is in the throws of joy addiction right now and as often as she infuriates me, she also rejuvenates me and reminds me that I have to keep looking for the beauty in things. The up-side of a screaming fit at the grocery store is the hardest thing to find, but here it is. Violet would rather be swinging and she just can’t control her passion. How can anyone expect a child who is this delighted by speeding through the air to be content in a slow moving shopping cart?
