Quoth the Violet

Last night after watching the Grammys, I took a swig of Nyquil and headed to bed. Aaron took his sleeping pill, so we were pretty much unreachable after 20 minutes.  About midnight, I remember seeing a blurry shape standing next to the bed. The shape claimed to be my child and wanted in the big bed. I was powerless to stop her, but I went on with my usual strategy and asked the kid why she needed to sleep with us.

Vi: There's no clock in my room. I can't tell what time it is.
Me: {{aggleflaggle}} You don't know how to tell time, baby.
Vi: I know Mama.
Me: {{{{whoompyflappy}} {{{snore}}}

I woke to a completely naked sleeping child between me and my husband.  Her clothes were piled on top of the blankets, alongside the cat.

There's a fun new blog called Things My Child Says and if you click over you can read another bit of wisdom from my Violet.  Submit something too, while you're there.

  1. <3 Love that!

    Skyler also frequently gets in bed with me nakey. She has learned that the best way to go about it is to not try and wake me (then I won't eject her back to her room). So sometimes I roll over or stretch and there is a very bony naked thing lying next to me. You just never know what you're going to find with that kid.

  2. Mine does that - 98% of the time I don't even wake up. She is usually clothed though...

  3. My kids have been doing this more frequently lately too. When they both pile in it gets a little tight with all four of us in our too tiny Double bed. I'll be happy when cold season is over and everyone's sleep returns to normal.

  4. Princess went through that naked phase, too. It has now passed...at least for the winter.

  5. I should get some Nyquil just for fun. Maybe I'll sleep well too.
